THE BIOSPHERE
The Biosphere – a geodesic dome as the structure for the United States Pavilion at Expo 67 that was not dismantled and was donated to the City of Montréal by the U.S.A, officially in 1968. For several years it hosted exhibitions and in 1995 it became a museum promoting environmental issues.

The Municipality through the organisation Espace pour LaVie is handling the Biosphere and organises conferences and exhibitions having resolved its financial issus  (RCI,2021). “ The Biosphère's mission is to raise citizen awareness, action, and engagement on significant environmental issues in favor of the socio-ecological transition.”(PJD,2021).

As a museum entirely devoted to the links between society and the environment, the Biosphère's mission is to raise citizen awareness, action, and engagement on significant environmental issues in favour of the socio-ecological transition.
Designed by noted American architect Buckminster Fuller, it housed the United States pavilion during the Expo 67 World's Fair. The Biosphère is a unique and spectacular site located in the heart of Montréal at Parc Jean-Drapeau.
This is where curious young minds can learn about major environmental issues, explore ways to address them and broaden their perspectives on the environment through Biosphère's exhibitions and activities.
